Jessica Randall is the owner of “JRandAllCreations”. Jessica is a self-taught artist, who can draw amazing pieces. I was able to find out a little bit more about this fascinating business through an interview with Jessica. Jessica draws incredible bookmarks that are made to look like everything from foods to animals.
When asked how long she had been interested in drawing, Jessica told me, “I have been interested in drawing as long as I can remember, probably since I was able to hold a pencil.”
Jessica also sells prints of her “cancer horses”, which are drawings of horses that signify different battles against cancer. Jessica herself is a cancer survivor, making these pictures much more personal to her.
She was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2015 right after her wedding; two days later she started drawing her breast cancer horses. “It was a way for me to deal with my diagnosis, and a way for me to tell people,” she told me when I asked her if her fight had inspired her to start drawing cancer horses, “It helped me and brought other people hope, so I was inspired to create a cancer horse for other types of cancer.” Jessica said she now draws horses for lung, brain, and childhood cancer. It was a wonderful experience to have the chance to interview Jessica and see the way she is using her own problems and her love for horses to inspire others. I’m happy to be able to tell my readers that Jessica has won her battle; she was pronounced cancer free in April of 2016.
When I saw the pictures of her bookmarks I felt like I was being shown a part of her heart. Some are funny (she has one made to look like a piece of pizza), some are beautiful flowers, and some are after book and television characters that she enjoys.
She does take special orders, but she told me that she will not draw pictures of people.
She is currently living in Louisville, KY, with her husband, her horse “Topper” who she told me she has had for 11 years, three kittens, and three hens that have comically originally names, one of which is Ms. Pricilla Pinhead.
